The land stands; it does not flatten

Move the map around Grossglockner. The country is small, yet the gap between valley floor and ice edge is the whole journey. The Pasterze lies on the eastern flank, and the High Alpine Road passes here in its open season. This view explains why Austria is never measured by area alone.
