Where is it?
Austria at the heart of Europe
An inland country in the Eastern Alps. Nine states, with Vienna as capital. Neighbours: Germany, Czechia and Slovakia to the north, Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. From Lake Constance in the west to Lake Neusiedl in the east stretches nearly 600 kilometres, and the west is a narrow corridor between mountain borders.
