Krabi
Krabi province covers 5,323 square kilometres and had 483,855 people in 2024. About six million visitors come in a year, most of them between November and April. The coast and islands include Ko Lanta and the Phi Phi Islands. Railay is a peninsula between Krabi and Ao Nang. There is no road in, because limestone cliffs close the approach, so boats make the crossing. The rock is used for climbing, and beaches sit at the foot. The Phi Phi Islands cover 12.06 square kilometres and had about 2,500 residents in 2018. Ko Phi Phi Le belongs to the province and to Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. Maya Bay there is wrapped in cliffs. Krabi airport opened in 1999 about 7 kilometres east of town and handled 3,053,553 passengers in 2025. Coming from Phuket, one day at Railay and one among the islands is enough for most people. Boats stop when the swell rises.
